Interstellar wins celebrity raves as widest-ever IMAX rollout anticipated

Christopher Nolan’s space spectacular has won warm early praise from attendees at sneak screenings, ahead of the official embargo lift on Monday

Acclaimed film-makers Rian Johnson, Brad Bird and Edgar Wright, along with actors Emile Hirsch, Josh Gad and Patton Oswalt, are among the famous names lining up to offer praise for Christopher Nolan’s much-hyped, Oscar-tipped space drama Interstellar.

Starring Matthew McConaughey as a widower engineer forced to leave his young family behind as he embarks through a wormhole to distant exoplanets in the hope of finding a new home for mankind away from the dying Earth, Nolan’s film is expected to be one of the best-reviewed movies of 2014.

While critics have so far kept to a strict review embargo, which expires on Monday, Twitter exploded with a supernova of positivity following a reported screening in New York on the evening of Sunday 19 October, held by Paramount studio chief Brad Grey.

Co-starring Anne Hathaway, Michael Caine, Jessica Chastain and Casey Affleck, Interstellar hits cinemas in the US and UK on 7 November. The film is expected to receive the widest global release ever in Imax cinemas, with a reported 770 sites worldwide due to screen the science-fiction adventure.
