This incredibly boring and badly acted film about the American civil war, produced by Atlanta's own Ted Turner, is almost four hours long and feels like four days - my attention, and indeed temper, snapped well before the finish.

There is much lenient and sentimental treatment of those gallant gentlemen of the Old South, the issue of slavery meriting a coy mention or two. It can only have been intended as a TV series.
