Peter Bradshaw

Piglet’s Big Movie

Peter Bradshaw: The young children I saw at the screening looked happy. I wondered if they deserved better

A summer-holiday movie for very little kids. Winnie the Pooh and all his chums are back, celebrating the specialness of their littlest little pal, Piglet, and in doing so helping the tiniest audience members feel good about themselves.

I've found the animation and script very watery in the Pooh films, and the last one, The Tigger Movie, verged on the depressing. Moreover, this new film finds a cheeky way to reprise a collection of old stories from the much-loved canon, including the House at Pooh Corner.

The young children I saw at the screening looked happy. I wondered if they deserved better.
