3-D can't add wonder to a franchise that has looked more knackered with every step as the now-domesticated Shrek fears he's lost his inner ogre. He makes a deal with devious Rumpelstiltskin, who shows him what Far Far Away would look like without him, which is all very Potter's Field and Frank Capra, only with witches. Eddie Murphy and Antonio Banderas as Donkey and an obese Puss keep the jokes coming and I liked the idea of the underground ogre resistance movement, though it is never fully developed. Even kids will know that this isn't as good as the first one.
