Cineaste noses were rather turned up in Cannes three years ago when André Téchiné's sturdy wartime drama was premiered - but it's a perfectly decent story. After the fall of France, widowed Béart and her children flee south and are persuaded by Yvan (Ulliel) to leave the column of stragglers for the forest, where his feral talents for survival are invaluable. An old-fashioned tale of the past.
