The second feature by the African-American director Oscar-nominated for Precious, The Paperboy wastes an exceptional cast on an incoherent tale about two white brothers united in Florida in the late 1960s through the reinvestigation of a murder for which a seedy alligator hunter was convicted. The highlight is a beach-party scene in which trailer-trash Nicole Kidman resourcefully pees on college dropout Zac Efron's livid burns after he's been stung by jellyfish.
