In film the giant lizard is famous for destroying buildings and laying over 200 eggs in Madison Square Garden, but now Godzilla has been awarded Japanese citizenship by the city of Tokyo. With new status and special residency the Godzilla will be asked to watch over the people of the city and boost tourism.

Three thousand copies of the residency papers given to Godzilla, pictured below, have also been replicated so that fans in the city can have a special memento of the occasion.

What fictional characters would you make citizens in your country? Let us know in the comments below along with why you would reward them with citizenship.
