Bleeding Love review – Ewan and Carla McGregor star in listless father-daughter drama

Decent performances from the real-life father and daughter can’t save this generic road movie about a man’s attempt to wean his child off drugs

Ewan McGregor and his daughter Clara star as an absentee father and his daughter, whose fractious relationship is tested by a road trip to Santa Fe. The drive is the beginning of a longer journey for the daughter, who is struggling to get to grips with her substance abuse issues. Or at least that’s what her former addict father hopes. In practice, however, she is not quite ready to part company with her demons. Decent performances from both McGregors can’t breathe much spirit (alcoholic or otherwise) into the film’s listless and generic screenplay.
